received an email with details for the event. If not, call Susan Harmon.
A seating map. special dietary needs and sleeping arrangements were
also available for people to consider.
Spring Retreat: Thirteen people have signed up for the retreat.
Bags for Beads of Courage:
Mardell brought the directions, draw strings and some labels for the bags. More labels will be available at the October meeting. This is part of our Charity Project for the year. These bags will go to children with life threatening diseases at Mary Bridge. The children will earn beads and the bags provide a way for the children to keep everything together.
Mardell also reminded us that we are continuing to make quilts for Mary Bridge this year.
Miscellaneous:
Rose Flannigan shared pictures of Julia, a friend in Olympia. She lost everything in a recent fire. Our Guild helped to replace some of her stash by donating fabric.
Dorothy Loveless shared 2 quilts she had made from scraps, reminding our Guild that if they have scraps and some extra time, the Rescue Mission is in need of quilts.
Show and Tell:
Susan Harmon: A wall hanging of sunflowers made from hand-dyed fabrics and a Dancing with the Stars Quilt which Jeri Lindstrom had quilted for her.
Norma Jean Nyberg: Applique quilt which she called her “One and Only”—which won a Third place in the Master’s Division. This was needle-turn applique and she quilted it. She also shared a paper pieced quilt she had made using a Judy Niemeyer pattern.
JoEllen Ramsey: A beautiful appliqued, embroidered pillow following the method introduced by Susan Harmon last year. She visited 32 shops during the Shop Hop and created a lovely quilt from all the sample squares received.
Jackie Anderson: 1. Honorable mention quilt, 2. Monkey Quilt which she and Kim Killen each made following no pattern, but using yellow, red, green and blue, 3. A quilt for Mary Bridge with an African Safari theme.
Mary Johnston: Scrap quilt in blue from donated fabric
Paula Brevet: A paper pieced quilt using a Karen Stone pattern, quilted by Rose
Dorothy Loveless: Rescue Mission scrap quilts, Compass Star quilt which had been entered in the county fair in Graham and a paper pieced quilt which won honorable mention at the Puyallup fair.
Program: Joen Wolfrom presented a slide show on Playing with Color. She had many pointers for us to consider using pure color, tints, shades, and tones when we construct a quilt.
OCTOBER MEETING: Wednesday, October 24, 2012
OCTOBER PROGRAM: Heirloom Quilts—Members are to bring their heirloom quilts to share and the story behind them.
Respectfully submitted, Jan Jansen, Secretary
