Nov 2012 Meeting Minutes

QBTB Guild Meeting
November 28, 2012
The Meeting opened with the program for the evening—Barbara Shapel—First Quilt, Last Quilt and a Few In Between
Barbara shared many of her quilts with two sides—daytime, nighttime with northwest themes.  She also shared tips and ideas for machine quilting on a regular sewing machine.
Guild Meeting
    Guests:   Ruth Prins, Cindy Jones, Mary Hart Furmon and Karen Renaud-Williams
Birthdays Celebrated:  Norma Jean Nyman, Mary Bradshaw, Jan Jansen, and Marjorie Ritchie
    Committee Updates: 
        Fall Retreat:  October 10-13, 2012
Norma Jean Nyman is chairman for the event.
Total cost is $275.     Sign up by February
$140 is due for the first half at time of sign-up.
        Beads of Courage Bags—Mardell Buffington
            200 bags have been completed.   Goal:   400 bags
            There are more labels coming
            37 small bags are completed.   There is a need for girly bags.
The workshop at Mardell’s club house went very well, with many bags completed.
    REMINDER:  December meeting will be on December 19
            Christmas party
            Challenge project due—bring top, doesn’t have to be totally complete
            RAFFLE QUILT MONEY IS DUE—DRAWING WILL TAKE PLACE Dec. 19
    Hospice Quilt is still unclaimed.
QUILT SHARING:
Marcia Dyer shared a Judy Niemeyer pattern quilt she had completed, quilted by Jeri  Lindstrom
    Joyce Momii completed a quilt done in greens
    Pat Ditter showed a fall quilt of the month she had completed and a Christmas quilt
        She quilted her own quilts.
    Barbara Kadden shared a quilt top she completed of aqua, gold and burnished red
    Jackie Anderson shared a Christmas quilt and a flannel quilt
Mary Johnston completed a quilt done in purples and one done in blues, both made out of scraps
Dorothy Loveless showed a tulip quilt she had completed for Hightower Habitat
Krystal Johnson shared the pillowcases she had made for the younger members of her family
Norma Jean Nyman completed a quilt using dryer sheets as stabilizer and a Yin and Yang quilt
