The November meeting of QBTB was held Nov 18th. About 35 members attended. The treasurer reported a balance of $10,055.36 will all bills paid. (Much of the money is earmarked for retreats.) Community Service: Kim Killen and Jackie Anderson showed off 11 quilts ready for Mary Bridge. Most came from the sewing party held last month and a few from individual members. Great start! The Crayon Challenge continues with items due at the December meeting. Bring them in a brown bag as they should be a secret until voted on. The December meeting will be held December 16 and will be a pie social and bingo party. Cards will be $1 or 6 for $5. The money will go to the program committee for use in hiring speakers. There will be prizes! There will be sign-ups for the Post Card Class next meeting. Judie Sholes has speakers lined up for May and Sept of next year. Cathy Lindell is a pattern designer and Susan Moyer does on point quilts with an interesting technique. The Fall Retreat has one place left. A wait list will be started. The Web site will add a bulletin board for announcements, special sales, and things to sell. The Master Calendar will also be added to the Website. Any dates that go on the calendar should be submitted to the Web Masters Cheryl Kneale or Carol Carroll. Block of the Month: Trina needs a few more volunteers to present a block. Sherryl Pfaff designed a cute kimono block for next month. Betty Bliss won the triangle squares this month. Ways and Means: Susan Harmon reported the bazaar netted $282 which was not as much as hoped, but another $150 was added at the meeting. Thanks, Susan, for all your hard work on this project. Six Round Robin Center blocks were shown off and sent on their way for their first borders. What a variety. It will be fun to see how they turn out. Raffle Quilt: Norma Jean Nyman agreed to head up the raffle ticket sales again. Thanks so much, Norma Jean, it is not an easy job. Rose expects to have the quilt quilted and ready in February. Announcements at the meeting: If you have a message for the group, please submit it to the president so she can get it put on the agenda. Show-and-Tell: Norma Jean showed us her hour glass quilt that used the technique she taught at a previous meeting and also a charming baby quilt. Nancy Keay brought her memory quilt done for a young woman who lost both parents. She was working on it at the retreat and it was so nice to see it all finished. It will be such a treasure for the girl with photos from her childhood. Carol Carroll showed her Laurel Birch quilt. And Jeri Lindstromg showed some amazing quilting of her geometric quilt. Program: Our guest speaker was Carol Olson a prize winning quilter who does much with dyes. Her body of work shows such personality and her way of working is so interesting. It was fun to see the progression of growth from her first quilt , through life experiences, into dying fabrics, and finally into longarm quilting. --Respectfully submitted, Marcia Cramer, Secretary
